Dearly Departed
16 JULY 2015 - 26 JULY 2015
07:00 pm - 02:00 pm

Not since STEEL MAGNOLIAS has a more colorful and dysfunctional group of Southern eccentrics gathered below the Mason-Dixon line.

In the Baptist backwoods of the Bible Belt, the beleaguered Turpin family proves that living and dying in the South are seldom tidy and always hilarious. Despite their earnest efforts to pull themselves together for their father's funeral, the Turpin's other problems keep overshadowing the solemn occasion: Firstborn Ray-Bud drinks himself silly as the funeral bills mount; Junior, the younger son, is juggling financial ruin, a pack of no-neck monster kids, and a wife who suspects him of infidelity in the family car; their spinster sister, Delightful, copes with death as she does life, by devouring junk food; and all the neighbors add more than two cents. As the situation becomes fraught with mishap, Ray-Bud says to his long-suffering wife, "When I die, don't tell nobody. Just bury me in the backyard and tell everybody I left you." Amidst the chaos, the Turpins turn for comfort to their friends and neighbors, an eccentric community of misfits who just manage to pull together and help each other through their hours of need, and finally, the funeral.

You'll die laughing at CharACTers's production of DEARLY DEPARTED!

4th Annual Anniston Runners Club Remembrance Run
25 JULY 2015
07:30 am - 09:00 am

FREE! This is a run to remember....those we have loved and lost or those whom we just love.

This run is designed to take a moment to simply remember those people who mean something to us, a way to hold them dear as we run the Woodstock 5K course the week before the big event. Did you lose a loved one this year? Has someone inspired you to train harder? Just want to run in someone's honor? This event is for you.

Created as a low-key, poignant event to help people train for the club's largest race, the first Remembrance Run in 2012 proved to be a huge success with more than 150 runners taking part.

Memorial bibs are offered to all who want them, and the names of those for whom you are running can be written on the bibs. Water/Gatorade are stationed at the finish of the race. The clock will be in place at the finish.

Start time: Same as Woodstock - 7:30 a.m.

This run is open to everyone, not just ARC members.

This outstanding drama was very successful on Broadway and has become one of our most consistently popular titles. A tremendously moving study of the character of two roving farmhands, one of whom "with the strength of a gorilla and the mind of an untutored child" unwittingly murders a woman, and is killed by his friend to prevent his falling into the hands of the law.

Two drifters, George and his friend Lennie, with delusions of living off the "fat of the land," have just arrived at a ranch to work for enough money to buy their own place. Lennie is a man-child, a little boy in the body of a dangerously powerful man. It's Lennie's obsessions with things soft and cuddly, that have made George cautious about who the gentle giant, with his brute strength, associates with. His promise to allow Lennie to "tend to the rabbits" on their future land keeps Lennie calm, amidst distractions, as the overgrown child needs constant reassurance. But when a ranch boss' promiscuous wife is found dead in the barn with a broken neck, it's obvious that Lennie, albeit accidentally, killed her. George, now worried about his own safety, knows exactly where Lennie has gone to hide, and he meets him there. Realizing they can't run away anymore, George is faced with a moral question: how should he deal with Lennie before the ranchers find him and take matters into their own hands.
