11 OCTOBER 2014
08:00 am - 12:00 pm

Little River Canyon Half Marathon

October 11, 2014 ~ 8:00am

Fort Payne, AL

Possibly one of the most scenic half marathons in the country, the certified course loops 13.1 miles on paved roads, starting and ending at the Little River Canyon Center.

To start at 8:00 am, the first five miles of the run will follow the Little River Canyon National Preserve's incredibly scenic and sometimes challenging rim of the canyon, as the remainder winds through gently rolling farm country including Randy Owen Drive and his famous Tennessee River Music Hereford and Angus cattle ranch. Randy and Kelly Owen are often on hand at the 6 and 8 mile water station pitching Fig Newtons, energy Gu and drinks but this year they'll add a necessity. According to Kelly "Yes runners, this year we'll have a port-a-potty".

The half marathon will feature five water stations, music, ample law enforcement, shirts, trophies, finishing metals, and much more. Proceeds go to outdoor education programs and local conservation efforts at Little River Canyon. USATF Certified Course.

The Seagull by Anton Chekov

October 16-18 at 7:00 PM and October 19 at 2 PM

The season opens with a classic work by Russia's most celebrated playwright. When an aging theatre star, her son the idealistic playwright, her lover the famous writer and a lovesick actress gather at a country estate, it ignites a blaze of passions and rivalries. Populated with imperfect, fascinating characters, this satiric and darkly funny play is a poignant and entertaining exploration of love, life and the power of art.
